Why Seek Counselling or Psychotherapy?

Thoughts, emotions, and belief systems which are out of balance can lead to despair, anxiety, depression, unhealthy relationships, and a host of other situations including physical illness. Our thoughts affect our emotions, which in turn influence our behaviors. Talking it over with a compassionate and skilled practitioner can lead to positive change.

What’s The Difference?

While counselling is generally a more short term process, counselling and psychotherapy are both relationship-based “talking” therapies which is why success relies heavily upon the client/therapist relationship. In other words, it is important that you find the therapist who is the right fit for you.

Counselling is effective in treating single issue problems or concerns, while therapy delves into deeper issues which may have originated in past experiences or traumas.

What is a Life Coach?

Both counselling and psychotherapy differ from life coaching in that your counsellor/therapist does not offer advice, but works with you to discover your own truths helping you move forward to a more successful and satisfying life.

Counselling and psychotherapy can be approached from a number of different disciplines and modalaties. With a background in nursing and hospital chaplaincy I take a multidisciplinary approach to individual, couples, and group sessions. As your counsellor/therapist it is my job and my pleasure to design a treatment strategy unique to you, based on my training and experience in both clinical and private practice settings.
